Notes on 2008 activities * Easter Sleepover in the Parish House (March 22, 2008): We are getting excited about the Easter Eve party and sleep-over for our confirmation class. We have lots of great things planned including pizza, movies, baking for sunrise service, decorating Easter eggs, a treasure hunt for prizes, and an Easteregg hunt. Please arrive by 6:30 PM and bring the following things with you: sleeping bag, pillow, warm clothes for Easter Sunrise Service, flashlight (for hunting for eggs), toiletries, camera (optional). On Easter morning we will walk to the pavilion and serve the scones that we have made. Parents may pick up either at the pavilion or the church (sunrise service is 6:45 AM), so pickup will be at approximately 8 AM. During the walk to the pavilion there will be an Easter egg hunt along the way. Confirmands may invite their mentors to stop by on Saturday night or to join us for the "hunt" on the way to sunrise service. We will be leaving the church by 6:15 AM. Please let Peter know if you are unable to attend. Think Spring and wish for warm weather!
** Buddhist Flower Festival (April 6, 2008): We will leave the Bridgewater Congregational Church at 8:00am. We will meet our friends from the Brookfield Congregational Church in their parking lot by 8:30am to depart for the Buddhist Flower Festival at the Mansfield Freeman Center for East Asian Studies at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. Preparation: Please wear comfortable clothes (pants) and bring a fresh flower with you for the festival. You can learn more by visiting their web site: www.buddhistfaith.tripod.com/pureland_sangha or search: Wesleyan Buddhist Flower Festival. Sunday's festival will celebrate the story and significance of the historical Buddha's birth over 2600 years ago; including the washing of the baby Buddha and a flower offering. The discussion topic is "Born for a Purpose, Living Our Purpose" (Giving Direction and Meaning in our 21st Century Lives).
